Details: Putin claimed that Russia could not be considered a "paper tiger" because it is "effectively fighting against all the NATO countries, and it feels confident".

When the moderator jokingly suggested presenting Trump with a paper origami tiger, Putin said: "No. He and I have our own relationship; we know what to give each other."

Putin stated that he reacts to such remarks "calmly", but suggested that Trump should "go and deal with that paper tiger".

He went on: "What is the problem today? Weapons are being supplied to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in sufficient amounts – whatever they need, that's how much they get."

  • In a post published on Truth Social after his meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in New York, Trump questioned Russia's military and economic power, calling it a "paper tiger", and said that with EU support, Ukraine might be able to reclaim its territories from Russia "and maybe even go further than that".
  • Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov responded: "Russia is by no means a tiger. After all, Russia is more associated with a bear. There are no paper bears."
