First responders come under fire while dealing with aftermath of Russian attack on Poltava Oblast – photo

Rescue workers from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine have come under a Russian double-tap strike while responding to the aftermath of the first attack in Poltava Oblast.

Details: On the night of 2-3 October, Poltava Oblast was hit by a large-scale combined strike from Russia, involving both missiles and drones.
As a result of direct hits and the fall of debris, the region's energy infrastructure, industrial companies and houses were damaged. In several hromadas, windows were blown out, roofs damaged, and power transmission lines disrupted. [A hromada is an administrative unit designating a village, several villages, or a town, and their adjacent territories – ed.]
First responders came under a repeat Russian strike while addressing the aftermath of the first attack. A fire truck was damaged, but fortunately, no emergency personnel were injured.

Over 140 rescue workers and more than 40 pieces of equipment were deployed at the scenes of the strikes. All fires have been extinguished, reports the State Emergency Service.
Background:
- On the night of 2-3 October, Russia launched an attack using 416 aerial weapons, of which the Air Force downed 320.
- The main target of the Russian strike was critical infrastructure, particularly energy facilities, in Kharkiv and Poltava oblasts.
