Munich airport completely suspended operations on the evening of 3 October for the second time in less than 24 hours due to the appearance of unidentified drones near the runways.

Details: Both runways at Munich Airport were closed again. The German air traffic control service Deutsche Flugsicherung introduced flight restrictions "as a precautionary measure due to unconfirmed drone sightings".

The airport's website stated that flights at Munich Airport have been suspended until further notice.

The captain of a flight to London whose departure was cancelled told passengers that the reason was "drone sightings near the take-off and landing runways".

Quote: "Flight tracker Flightradar24 showed at least two Munich-bound flights circling at some distance from the airport."

Details: The airport website noted that at least 10 flights scheduled to arrive had been redirected to other airports as of 20:35 (local time).
