Moldovan president calls for stronger support for Ukraine amid Russia's daily terror

President of Moldova Maia Sandu has called for increased and faster assistance to Ukraine following Russia's latest attacks.

Quote: "Russia's war on Ukraine is daily terror. In just two days, it bombed passenger trains and struck civilian infrastructure to freeze people and block their movement. These are war crimes. Ukraine needs more and faster support to save lives and defend its freedom."

Background:

• Earlier, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen described as "shocking" the footage from the Shostka railway station in Sumy Oblast, where Russian forces attacked passenger trains.
• On the night of 4-5 October, Russia launched more than 50 missiles and around 500 attack drones against Ukraine targeting Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Odesa and Kirovohrad oblasts.
• At least five people were killed and another 10 injured.
• President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasised that Russian forces were targeting essential civilian infrastructure and urged Ukraine's allies to provide stronger air defences.
