Quote from Peskov: "We understand that we probably need to wait for clearer statements, if there are any."
Details: Trump said he does not want to escalate tensions with Russia and will try to clarify how the cruise missiles would be used and for what purpose.
"As regards arms deliveries, they happen first, and statements are made later – at least that was always the case under the Biden administration, as we know well. We'll see what happens this time," Peskov added.
Background:
- US President Donald Trump stated earlier that he has "sort of made a decision" on the supply of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.
- Last month, US Vice President JD Vance said Washington was considering Ukraine's request for long-range Tomahawks capable of striking deep into Russia, including Moscow, although it was unclear whether a final decision had been made.
- Recently, Russian ruler Vladimir Putin warned that a US decision to supply Ukraine with long-range Tomahawk missiles for strikes deep inside Russia would destroy Moscow's relations with Washington.
