Ukraine's energy minister tasks officials with improving physical security of power facilities

Ukrainian Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk has inspected the progress of repair works at energy facilities damaged by Russian attacks.

Details: Hrynchuk heard reports on the reconstruction process and instructed officials to develop mechanisms and technical solutions to strengthen the physical protection of power generation facilities.

• On the night of 9-10 October, Russian forces launched a large-scale strike on Ukraine's energy system, causing emergency power outages across the country.
• As a result of the attack, thermal power plants sustained severe damage.
• President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he had concerns about the protection of the capital's energy infrastructure, particularly the Thermal Power Plant No. 5 and the Thermal Power Plant No. 6.
