Ukraine imposes emergency power cuts in most regions due to Russian attack

Emergency power cuts have been introduced in most regions of Ukraine due to a large-scale Russian missile and drone attack on the energy infrastructure.

Details: Ukrenergo reported that following the Russian attack on the power grid, repair works are being carried out where the security situation allows. Power supply will be restored once the energy system stabilises.

Background:

• Due to the large-scale attack across Ukraine, parts of infrastructure have been damaged and some areas remain without power. Several trains are running with delays and route changes.
• Russian forces attacked an energy facility in Odesa Oblast, causing significant damage.
• Drone debris fell in the courtyard of a residential building in Kyiv as a result of the Russian attack on the night of 21-22 October.
• Fallen drone debris caused a fire in a 10-storey residential building in the Desnianskyi district of the capital.
• In addition, early reports indicated that drone debris had fallen on a high-rise building in the Pecherskyi district.
