Quote: "The situation in Kupiansk remains difficult, but our forces have gained more control in recent days. We continue to defend our positions."
Details: Zelenskyy said he had discussed the situation on all fronts in detail with Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and Andrii Hnatov, Chief of the General Staff.
Quote: "The toughest situation is now on the Pokrovsk axis. As in previous weeks, this is where the fighting is most intense and where Russian forces are most concentrated. The occupiers are trying to consolidate their positions by any means, and every invader eliminated right there is an achievement for our entire state."
More details: Zelenskyy also reported that "dozens of assault operations take place daily" on the Oleksandrivka front.
Background:
- Earlier on 29 October, Putin falsely claimed that Ukrainian troops in the cities of Kupiansk and Pokrovsk were blocked and encircled.
- The Kremlin leader said:"Ukraine's political leadership must make a decision regarding the fate of its citizens who are encircled… just as they once did at Azovstal."
- Ukraine's Joint Forces Task Force said heavy fighting continues in the city of Kupiansk and its outskirts, but reports of Ukrainian troops being encircled there are false.
