Foreign military volunteers to receive broader opportunities in Ukraine's defence forces

Ukraine's defence forces are introducing a new model for service by foreign military volunteers, who will now have broader opportunities, including the right to choose a combat brigade, area and specifics of their deployment.

Details: The Ground Forces said they are continuing to develop the system for recruiting and deploying foreign volunteers who choose to sign contracts and serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian military explained that certain formats introduced in 2022 had served their purpose during the most critical phase of the country's defence, allowing for the rapid integration of foreigners into the military. However, battlefield conditions, the structure of the defence forces and the needs of combat units have changed significantly.

Quote: "A new system for the deployment of foreign military personnel is being introduced. The key principle of the new model is to make the most effective use of their experience, motivation and professional skills in the units where they are most needed.

Foreign military volunteers who sign a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine will have broader opportunities for service, including the right to choose a combat brigade, area and deployment specifics based on their training, experience and preferences. This will ensure better integration, equal opportunities with Ukrainian fighters, and more rational use of human resources."
