Quote: "Steve Witkoff is going over [to Russia], maybe with Jared [Kushner], I'm not sure about Jared going, but he's involved in the process [of resolving the war in Ukraine]. Smart guy. And they're gonna be meeting with President Putin, I believe next week in Moscow." [N.B. Ukrainska Pravda does not recognise Putin as president – ed.]

Background:
- Earlier, Trump said he had sent Witkoff to Moscow to finalise the "peace plan" which, according to the US president, has only a few disputed points remaining.
- Trump also said he is ready to meet personally with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian leader Vladimir Putin only on the condition that the "peace deal" is fully agreed or at its final stage.
- Bloomberg published a transcript of a conversation between Putin's aides Yuri Ushakov and Kirill Dmitriev which indicated that the so-called 28-point "peace plan" was prepared by the Kremlin leader's team.
- The Guardian also reported that a linguistic analysis of the so-called "Trump plan" revealed signs of a literal translation from Russian.
