Russian strike on Kyiv: hits on high-rise buildings leave 1 killed and 15 injured, including teenager – photos

Residential buildings in several Kyiv districts have been damaged following a large-scale Russian drone and ballistic missile attack on the night of 28-29 November. One person has been killed and 15 injured, including a teenager. The western part of the capital is without power.

Details: Klitschko said medical teams had been dispatched to the Solomianskyi, Shevchenkivskyi and Darnytskyi districts.
Early reports from Kyiv City Military Administration indicated that a child had been injured in the Shevchenkivskyi district.
Updated at 01:53. Tkachenko stated that damage had been recorded at at least six locations in different parts of the city.
"This is residential infrastructure – high-rise buildings and homes. People have been injured," he said.
Quote from Klitschko: "In the Sviatoshinskyi district, debris hit a section of a three-storey residential building.
In the Darnytskyi district, debris fell on the roof of a two-storey building.
Debris hit a 14-storey building in the Shevchenkivskyi district, causing apartments on the third and fourth floors to catch fire. The fire has been contained.
Debris hit a 25-storey residential building in the Solomianskyi district, causing the insulation to catch fire and partial destruction of the facade from the ground to the second floor. Cars in the courtyard were damaged.
Debris fell on the roof of a 17-storey building also in the Solomianskyi district. A house is on fire."
Details: It was initially reported that at least four people had been injured.
"One of them has been taken to hospital. The others were treated at the scene," Klitschko said.
Updated at 02:25: Klitschko reported that the number of injured had risen to six. Three of them, including a 13-year-old child, have been taken to hospital.
Updated at 03:30: According to updated information from Tkachenko, rescue workers had recovered the body of a man at one of the locations in the Sviatoshynskyi district.
"As of now, one person has been killed and seven injured in Kyiv, including a child," he said.
Updated at 05:40: Tkachenko reported that the number of people injured in the attack had increased to 11.
Updated at 07:17. The Russian combined attack on the capital has been ongoing for more than eight hours.
At around 07:00, Russian forces conducted a large-scale strike on Kyiv using missiles of various types and a series of powerful explosions was heard across the city.
Updated information from Klitschko indicated that fires had broken out in the Holosiivskyi, Solomianskyi and Darnytskyi districts as missile debris fell on non-residential buildings and open areas.
Power outages have been reported in several districts of the capital.
"Missile debris fell on the premises of a nine-storey residential building in the Darnytskyi district. A fire has broken out on the fifth floor of the building," he added.
Klitschko also reported that the western part of the capital is without power.
As of 08:00, 15 people had been injured in the large-scale Russian attack, eight of whom were hospitalised.
The authorities are urging residents of the capital to stay in shelters until the all-clear is given.
Background: On the night of 28-29 November, Russia launched another large-scale combined attack on Ukraine. An air-raid warning was issued in the city of Kyiv and most oblasts. A series of explosions was heard in the capital shortly after the military reported a threat of missile attacks. Kyiv City Military Administration warned of drones heading towards the city.
