Air defence systems are responding in Kyiv, drone debris falls in city centre

Explosions have been heard in the city of Kyiv on the morning of 16 March, with authorities reporting that air defence systems have been responding. Three districts have been affected, with grass fires in some areas.

Details: Klitschko later added that air defence systems have been responding in the Obolonskyi district in particular.
Prior to the explosions, an air-raid warning had been issued in the capital. Kyiv City Military Administration warned of a drone threat.
Update: Klitschko added at 09:10 that debris from a drone had fallen in the very centre of the city.
"No fires or casualties have been recorded. The enemy attack on Kyiv continues. Stay in shelters!" he urged citizens.
Telegram channels report that debris from a Russian drone fell near the Independence Monument.
Later, Tymur Tkachenko, Head of Kyiv City Military Administration, reported that the Russian attack had affected the Shevchenkivskyi, Solomianskyi and Sviatoshynskyi districts.
"In the Solomianskyi district, parts of an enemy UAV fell in an open area. In the Sviatoshynskyi district, debris fell on a non-residential area and grass has caught fire," he said.
At 09:57, the all-clear was given in the capital. The threat lasted for one and a half hours.
