Details: Witkoff's visit to Moscow, where he is expected to meet Putin, comes the day after he, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Jared Kushner met with the Ukrainian delegation in Florida.
Following that meeting, Rubio stated that progress had been made, but much work remained to be done.
He said that US officials had "been in touch in varying degrees with the Russian side, but we have a pretty good understanding of their views as well".
CNN added that it is unclear whether Kushner will accompany Witkoff to Russia. Last week, Trump suggested that his son-in-law might travel to Moscow with the special envoy.
Speaking to reporters, Trump confirmed that Witkoff and Putin plan to meet. He did not specify the exact date of the meeting, noting only: "Sometime next week". (Trump made this statement on Sunday 30 November local time.)
Previously: On Friday 28 November, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Putin plans to meet with Witkoff in the first half of this week in Moscow.
