Over 60% of Americans want Ukraine to win war against Russia – poll
Over 60% of Americans support providing Ukraine with US weapons in its fight against Russia and want Ukraine to prevail in the war against Russia, according to a poll by the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Institute.

Details: The data for this year indicate a record high in support for helping defend Ukraine, increased support for NATO and a broad bipartisan agreement that the US must maintain the strongest military globally.
The poll shows that 64% of respondents believe the US should be more involved and take a leading role in international affairs. This view is shared by 79% of MAGA Republicans and 57% of Democrats.
Moreover, 62% of those surveyed said Ukraine should win the war, and 64% favour sending US weapons, a nine-point increase on last year, with support from 59% of Republicans and 75% of Democrats.
Support for NATO has risen to a record 68%, the poll found, alongside firm bipartisan support for Article 5 commitments.
According to the poll, 87% believe the United States should have the strongest military in the world, and 71% think peace is more likely when America holds that position.
For reference: The poll was conducted from 23 October 2025 to 3 November 2025 by the bipartisan research group Beacon Research and Shaw & Company Research. The overall sample size was 2,507.
Background:
- Last year, a Reagan Institute poll showed that Russia's war against Ukraine, especially the uncertainty about its outcome, divided American public opinion.
- Recently, Rustem Umierov, Secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defence Council, and US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff held a meeting focused on "advancing a credible pathway towards a durable and just peace in Ukraine".
- The latest meeting in this format was held on 4 December in Florida. Ukraine's delegation was invited following the US-Russian talks in Moscow on 2 December to be briefed on what had been discussed.
