Russian soldiers disguised as civilians attempt to infiltrate Ukrainian rear positions

Two Russian soldiers disguised in civilian clothing have attempted to infiltrate the rear of Ukrainian defenders on the Huliaipole front, only to be killed, Ukraine's State Border Guard Service has reported.

Quote: "On the Huliaipole front, Russian servicemen have once again resorted to prohibited methods of warfare. A group of men in civilian clothes approached the Ukrainian border guards' positions and observed our forces for some time. Later, taking advantage of adverse weather conditions, they attempted to bypass the positions and infiltrate the rear."

Details: The Russians were given away by their walkie-talkie.

"As a result, the enemy group consisting of two men was wiped out. The dead invaders were found to have been wearing Russian Armed Forces uniforms under their civilian clothing," the State Border Guard Service reported.

The border guards stressed that such actions constitute a grave breach of international humanitarian law and qualify as perfidy – the deliberate feigning of civilian or otherwise protected status in order to gain a military advantage.
