Ukrainian forces strike gas processing plant in Russia's Astrakhan

Deep strike units from Ukraine's Special Operations Forces (SOF), in coordination with the Unmanned Systems Forces, struck the Astrakhan gas processing plant, owned by Russian energy giant Gazprom near the Caspian Sea, on the night of 14-15 December.

Details: The General Staff said explosions and a large-scale fire had been recorded on the plant's premises.

For reference: The Astrakhan gas processing plant is a crucial component of Russia's gas and petrochemical infrastructure, playing a pivotal role in fuel and petrochemical production nationwide. It processes natural gas and gas condensate into petrol, diesel and fuel oil, which Russia subsequently uses for military purposes.
