Train derailed in Zhytomyr Oblast, reportedly after being hit by Russian drone

A goods train near the city of Korosten in Zhytomyr Oblast has reportedly come under a Russian drone attack that caused it to derail, resulting in delays to other trains and injuries to employees of Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways).

Details: At 05:19, Ukrzaliznytsia reported that a goods train had derailed near Korosten.

Later, the press service said that the goods train had likely been attacked by a Shahed UAV.

"The locomotive crew of passenger train No. 45/46 Kharkiv-Uzhhorod made an emergency stop due to an 'oversized object' on the adjacent track, and its locomotive also derailed," the statement said.

One female passenger on the train sustained a cut from broken glass, and the goods train crew – the driver and the assistant driver – were also injured.

Background: On the night of 21-22 December, Russian drone attacks on Odesa damaged a critical infrastructure facility and a residential building, and a man was injured.
