Child killed in Russian attack on Zhytomyr Oblast, another five injured

A four-year-old child has been killed in a Russian attack on Zhytomyr Oblast on the early morning of 23 December; another five people, including another child, have sustained injuries.

Quote: "Zhytomyr Oblast has been under hostile air attacks for the second day in a row. Early reports indicate that several strikes or the fall of debris from cruise missiles and kamikaze drones were recorded across the oblast overnight."

Details: The attack damaged residential buildings, private civilian businesses and a shop. Six people were reported injured, including two children. One child and one adult were taken to hospital and are receiving medical treatment at healthcare facilities in the region.

Bunechko reports that the air attack is ongoing. Air defence units, first responders and medics are working in the region. Residents have been urged to remain in shelters until the all-clear is given.

Update: Bunechko later said that a 4-year-old child had been killed in the Russian attack on the region.

Details: Zhytomyr Oblast Military Administration reported that one person is known to have been killed and another five are reported to have been injured in the Russian strikes on Zhytomyr Oblast on the night of 22-23 December.

Background: On the early morning of 23 December, a large-scale air-raid warning was issued across Ukraine. Russian forces launched a combined attack using cruise missiles and strike drones. Air defence activity was reported in the city of Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast, as well as in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast.
