Details: Russia's Roscosmos has said the launch was postponed "to conduct additional checks of onboard systems and ground equipment".
Russia has also said the Baiterek programme is at its final stage.
The Soyuz-5 rocket was set to launch by the end of the year from the Baiterek complex at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.
The programme is positioned as a competitor to SpaceX, owned by Elon Musk.
Development of the new rocket has been running years behind schedule due to sanctions.
Russia has said the Soyuz-5 launch date will be determined after all tests are completed and agreed with all programme participants.
Kazakh authorities expect this to happen in the first quarter of next year.
