Zelenskyy says 20-point peace plan is 90% ready

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that a 20-point plan for a peaceful settlement of Russia's war against Ukraine is now 90% ready.

Details: Zelenskyy said that Ukraine's task is to ensure the plan is 100% ready.
Quote: "That 20-point plan we have been working on is 90% ready. Our task is to make sure everything is 100% ready. It is not simple and no one says it will be 100% ready right away."
More details: Zelenskyy added that meetings such as his planned talks in Florida with US President Donald Trump should help "bring the desired result closer".
He said that there are four parties to the proposed plan: Ukraine, the US, Russia and Europe.
Quote: "Of course the 20 points cannot be signed without Russia and without the Europeans. Yes, it is a four-party agreement. But we also have bilateral arrangements. Again, the second question is whether we sign them with the president (Trump – ed.) or not: we still need to discuss them again. As I said, our negotiating teams make changes to all these documents every day. I think we can already put a full stop against some things."
More details: Zelenskyy also gave a sceptical assessment of the likelihood that Russia would agree to the proposed plan, saying Russia is always looking for reasons to reject it.
Quote: "If Ukraine shows its position and it is constructive, and Russia does not agree, then [it means] the pressure [on Russia] is not enough. This is also what I want to discuss with the US president."
Background:
- On 24 December, Volodymyr Zelenskyy for the first time publicly presented a draft 20-point document on ending the war.
- Bloomberg reported earlier that signals from Moscow have indicated that Russia will demand significant changes to the draft "peace plan" agreed by Ukraine and the US.
