Trump announces new call with Putin

US President Donald Trump has announced plans for another conversation with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin.

Quote: "I think it's going to go good with him. I think it's going to go good with [Vladimir] Putin."

Details: Trump added that he hopes to speak with Putin "soon, as much as I want".

Politico also reported that Trump is not rushing to endorse proposals put forward by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Quote: "He [Zelenskyy] doesn't have anything until I approve it. So we'll see what he's got."

• His comments come amid expectations of an upcoming meeting with Zelenskyy. The Kyiv Post, a Ukrainian English-language newspaper, citing an unnamed source, reported that a meeting between the US and Ukrainian presidents could take place on Sunday 28 December.
