Quote: "I ask you to continue carrying out the tasks of the special military operation in line with the intentions and plans of the General Staff."
Details: Putin also claimed that "Russian troops continue to advance in Donbas, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson oblasts, while Ukraine's armed forces are retreating".
Earlier, he repeatedly reported the capture of Ukrainian towns that remain under Ukrainian control, such as Kupiansk.
Background:
- After the latest round of peace talks, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stressed that he is ready to meet with the Russian leader in any format, as long as Vladimir Putin's words are matched by his actions.
- Zelenskyy said that Putin's actions do not align with the supposedly peaceful language he uses in dialogue with the President of the United States.
- Zelenskyy said that we see Putin who wants to continue the war, strikes Ukraine with missiles, openly talks about it, celebrates the destruction of civilian infrastructure, and gives orders to his generals about where to advance and what to seize.
