Croatia allocates nearly €14m to purchase US-made arms for Ukraine

Croatia has decided to join NATO's Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative, through which US-made weapons can be purchased for Ukraine, contributing nearly €14 million.

Details: The Croatian government has approved a reallocation of funds within the 2025 state budget, allocating €235.7 million for major defence procurement programmes.
The funding will be used to cover advance payments for the purchase of CAESAR Mk2 wheeled self-propelled howitzers, including associated systems and equipment, and the acquisition of Leopard 2A8 main battle tanks, simulators, and long-term logistical support with extended warranties.
In addition to the procurement of heavy ground systems, the government has also approved a separate reallocation of just under €14 million to the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.
These funds will be used as Croatia's contribution to NATO's PURL mechanism, which is designed to coordinate the procurement and delivery of military equipment to Ukraine based on operational needs.
Background:
