DeepState, a Ukrainian group of military analysts, has reported that Russian forces slightly reduced the pace of assaults and the seizure of Ukrainian territory in December.

Quote: "The enemy has occupied 445 sq km of Ukrainian territory in December, which is 12% less than in November. The number of assault operations has decreased by 9%, which is linked to growing manpower problems that are increasingly evident in the enemy's armed forces."

Details: When broken down by sectors, the largest advance – 35% – occurred on the Sloviansk front. The loss of the city of Siversk in Donetsk Oblast was a serious blow. This area accounted for only 5% of assault operations, which, sadly, points to existing problems and a high level of effectiveness in Russian assaults.

The Pokrovsk front accounted for 26.5% of territorial losses and 32.5% of all assaults. Despite the intensity of fighting and greater-than-usual territorial losses, the defence in this area remains effective.

The third most affected area was the Huliaipole front, where 10% of territorial losses corresponded to 11% of assault operations. Analysts said the situation involving the 102nd Territorial Defence Brigade created very negative dynamics, but despite this, the defensive actions there cannot be described as poor.

DeepState also highlighted the Novopavlivka (Oleksandrivka) front, within the area of responsibility of Russia's 20th Army Corps. This sector accounted for 8% of territorial losses with 11% of assault operations. This area had been particularly problematic until October. The intensity of fighting there has dropped by about a third over the past two months, while territorial losses have fallen several times over. Analysts link this improvement to the appointment of General Viktor Nikoliuk to the corps.
