Ukraine's chief negotiator visits Türkiye, discusses security situation and return of POWs

Rustem Umierov, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, has reported on his visit to Türkiye, where he met with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and İbrahim Kalın, Head of Türkiye's National Intelligence Organisation.

Details: During a meeting in Ankara with Fidan, the sides discussed the security situation, the course of negotiation processes and coordination of further steps. "As always, special attention was given to the humanitarian track and the issue of returning our people," Umierov noted.

Umierov also met with Kalın during the visit.

Quote: "We exchanged assessments of the security situation, discussed possible scenarios for further developments, and coordinated actions taking into account the dynamics of the negotiation processes and the regional environment."

Details: The talks also covered the release of Ukrainian prisoners of war, as well as the return of civilians and children illegally abducted by Russia.

"We continue our systematic work within the existing formats of cooperation," Umierov added.
