Ukrainian air defence downs 86 UAVs, 23 locations hit

Ukrainian air defence forces destroyed 86 out of 116 drones launched by Russia on the night of 1-2 January.

Details: From 18:00 on 1 January, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 116 Shahed, Gerbera and other types of drones launched from the Russian cities of Millerovo, Kursk, Shatalovo, Oryol, Bryansk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk as well as Chauda and Hvardiiske in temporarily occupied Crimea.

About 70 of the UAVs were Shaheds.

Early reports indicated that as of 08:30 on 2 January, Ukrainian air defence forces had destroyed or jammed 86 Shahed, Gerbera and other types of drones in the country's north, south and east.

Hits by 27 UAVs were recorded at 23 locations and the fall of downed drones (debris) at 8 locations.
