Details: Diplomatic and security advisers to the leaders of 15 countries (14 European countries and Canada) arrived in Kyiv for the talks, along with advisers representing the NATO secretary general, the presidents of the European Council and the European Commission. US representatives plan to join part of the consultations online.
Rustem Umierov said that he hopes negotiations will end in peace agreements this year. "I hope 2026 is the year of peace," he said, also thanking the participating states "for their comprehensive support for Ukraine" and for taking part in the Kyiv talks.
Quote: "We will have three blocks [at Saturday's talks on 3 January – European Pravda]. The first block is work on documents, the second block is work on an economic prosperity package, and the third block will cover military and political issues."
More details: Umierov did not specify which panels US representatives will join. They are expected to take part in the economic and or military and political panels.
The aim of the meeting is to reach agreed documents as part of a "peace package", the NSDC secretary said.
Quote: "We need your support to finalise work on security guarantees, on the prosperity package and on the sequence [of implementing the peace plan]."
