Partial blackout in Kherson after Russian attack

A partial blackout has occurred in the city of Kherson following Russian attacks.
Source: Yaroslav Shanko, Head of Kherson Oblast Military Administration
Details: Shanko reported that specialised personnel have begun emergency repair works, taking the security situation into account. Electricity supply has been restored in some districts.
"I ask for your understanding regarding the temporary inconvenience," he said.
Shanko also reminded residents that invincibility centres are operating in the city, where people can charge their devices, access the Internet and keep warm. [Invincibility centres are heated premises stocked with food and power banks to assist residents facing hardships due to power cuts; a hromada is an administrative unit designating a town, village or several villages and their adjacent territories – ed.]
Background:
- On 28 December, Russian forces launched yet another artillery strike on a local combined heat and power plant (CHP) in Kherson, causing significant damage. They attack the facility almost daily.
- Following the Russian attack on the Kherson CHP, between 10,000 and 12,000 people were left without heating. They live in buildings supplied with heat by the plant.
