Trump says Russia would have seized Ukraine long ago if it were not for him
US President Donald Trump has once again claimed that it is only thanks to him that other NATO allies have started to spend more on defence, that without his involvement Russia would have seized Ukraine long ago, and that it is only because of him that Russia and China fear NATO.

Details: The US leader reminded "all of those big NATO fans" that before his presidency most NATO members spent 2% of GDP or less on defence and that the United States was, "foolishly, paying for them". He claimed that it is because of him that the spending threshold has risen to 5% and that everyone had agreed immediately, despite earlier warnings that this was impossible.
Quote: "Without my involvement, Russia would have ALL OF UKRAINE right now. Remember, also, I single-handedly ENDED 8 WARS, and Norway, a NATO Member, foolishly chose not to give me the Noble (sic) Peace Prize. But that doesn't matter! What does matter is that I saved Millions of Lives. RUSSIA AND CHINA HAVE ZERO FEAR OF NATO WITHOUT THE UNITED STATES, AND I DOUBT NATO WOULD BE THERE FOR US IF WE REALLY NEEDED THEM."
More details: Trump omitted to mention the role played by NATO allies in the operation in Afghanistan after 9/11.
He also boasted that "EVERYONE IS LUCKY THAT I REBUILT OUR MILITARY" during his first term and promised to continue strengthening it.
