Over 60% of Ukrainians believe that Ukraine will prosper in EU in 10 years

A total of 64% of Ukrainian citizens are optimistic about the future of their homeland: they believe that in 10 years, the country will prosper as part of the European Union.
Source: a survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS)
Details: The study showed a steady decline in optimism in Ukrainian society from October 2022 to May 2025, and in May 2025, sociologists recorded a predominance of pessimistic sentiments for the first time.
In May 2025, 47% believed that in 10 years Ukraine would be a country with a ruined economy and a large population outflow, compared to 43% who believed that in 10 years Ukraine would be a prosperous member of the EU.
However, in the second half of 2025, optimistic sentiments returned, with the share of optimists initially rising to 56% in early October and then to 64% in December.
In contrast, the number of those who believed that in 10 years Ukraine would be a ruined country with a significant population outflow decreased from 47% in May to 21% in December.
Optimism indicators at the end of 2025 even slightly exceeded those at the end of 2024, although they remain lower than they were in 2022-2023.

The survey was conducted between 26 November and 29 December 2025 using telephone interviews in all regions of Ukraine controlled by the Ukrainian government. A total of 1,001 respondents were interviewed.
The KIIS notes that, formally, under normal circumstances, the statistical error of such a sample did not exceed 4.1%, but under conditions of war, in addition to the specified formal error, a certain systematic deviation is added. However, the sociologists believe that the obtained results are still highly representative and allow a fairly reliable analysis of the public moods of the population.
