"Putin doesn't want peace, Russia's reply to diplomacy is more missiles and destruction. This deadly pattern of recurring major Russian strikes will repeat itself until we help Ukraine break it," the diplomat wrote.

Kallas urged EU countries to "dig deeper into their air-defence stocks" and immediately deliver them to Ukraine. In addition, she proposed imposing tougher sanctions on Russia.

Background:

  • Latvia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the overnight Russian attack on Ukraine as an act of blatant barbarism and called for maximum pressure on Russia.
  • Estonia's Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna, following Russia's overnight air attack on Ukraine, called for pressure on Russia to be intensified to the point where it becomes unbearable.

  • Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that after Russia's overnight air attack involving the Oreshnik ballistic missile, a clear response from the world is needed, particularly from the United States.
