Details: As of the evening of 11 January, power supply had still not been restored in several districts. The city council said the outages had been caused by technical damage to an energy facility on the left bank as a result of the Russian attack.

"Dnipro's public utilities are working around the clock to reconnect consumers using alternative power sources. The situation is difficult but under control," said Olha Kozlova, acting head of the Left Bank Administration of the Dnipro City Council.

City services and power engineers are operating 24/7 to stabilise the situation and restore power to homes. Residents without electricity are being advised to use invincibility centres, where they can get warm and charge electronic devices. Restoration of the water supply on the left bank is also ongoing. The system is being refilled and water is being supplied to boiler houses. Once stable pressure is reached, public utilities plan to resume heating using alternative energy sources.

Background:

  • On 7 January, Russian forces attacked critical infrastructure in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts, leaving both completely without power.
  • On 8 January, Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov described the situation in the city as a national emergency following the latest Russian attack. Power engineers were gradually restoring electricity to hospitals, the left bank of the city was being powered by backup sources, and work was ongoing to restore the supply of heating and water.
  • On the night of 9-10 January, Dnipro came under another large-scale attack, leaving over 50,000 people without electricity.
