Fighting in southern Ukraine remains difficult as Russia steps up shelling and drone strikes
Ukraine's Defence Forces of the South have said that the situation in southern Ukraine remains difficult, with Russian troops continuing artillery shelling and drone strikes on Ukrainian positions and making active use of aircraft.

Details: The military said that 33 combat clashes were recorded over the past 24 hours.
On the Oleksandrivka front, the Russian forces carried out 11 attacks near the settlements of Sicheve and Zlahoda and towards the settlements of Ivanivka and Nove Zaporizhzhia. On the Huliaipole front, Ukrainian troops repelled 20 attacks in the Huliaipole area and towards the settlements of Dobropillia, Zelene and Sviatopetrivka. On the Orikhiv front, Ukrainian soldiers repelled two attacks near the settlements of Prymorske and towards Pavlivka. On the Prydniprovske front, the Russians carried out no offensive actions.
In the operational zone of the Pivden (South) Group of Forces, Russian forces launched nine airstrikes using 48 guided aerial bombs. The Russians also used nearly 1,800 kamikaze drones of various types and carried out 220 UAV strikes, using 240 munitions.
The Ukrainian defence forces said that 370 artillery attacks were recorded using about 1,500 rounds of ammunition.
Civilians in the settlements close to the line of contact continue to suffer as a result of the shelling. In total, 22 attacks on 16 settlements were recorded over the past 24 hours.
