"We have reached agreement on the political document at the working level. However, the biggest challenge for all of us is that the document we will sign will commit us to joint work between the EU, the US and Ukraine, and this will involve dozens of legal instruments," Kachka said.

He stressed that this is "more of a planning document than a finalised project".

"It is rather a set of tasks. It contains a section with working areas – around five or seven different areas – outlining what needs to be done to make all this happen," Kachka summarised.

Background:

  • Earlier, Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko explained how Ukraine plans to use the US$800 billion under the economic "peace" deal. The government said that the amount would include both grants and loans.
  • Meanwhile, officials insist that the US$800 billion agreement for Ukraine has been coordinated with the EU and does not contradict the country's EU accession requirements.
  • It was reported earlier that the signing of a US$800 billion prosperity plan for Ukraine by US President Donald Trump and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Davos has been cancelled.
