Trump comments on his meeting with Zelenskyy in Davos

US President Donald Trump has described his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Davos as "very good".

Details: Trump called the meeting on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum on 22 January "very good" and added that "everybody wants to have the war end".
When asked about the prospects for a peace agreement, Trump replied: "We'll have to see what happens."
"We're meeting with Russia, that'll take place tomorrow and we're going to be meeting with President Putin," he added. [N.B. Ukrainska Pravda does not recognise Putin as president – ed.]
Trump also noted that the meeting with Zelenskyy did not cover Ukraine's potential membership in the "Board of Peace" he is establishing – a council that so far has not included any of the US's usual Western European allies.
Background:
- Ukraine has been invited to join the "Board of Peace" but has not yet responded.
- The meeting between Zelenskyy and Trump concluded and lasted approximately 50 minutes. Zelenskyy's team described it as "good".
- Initially, it was reported that Trump's envoy Steve Witkoff was to meet Russian ruler Vladimir Putin on 22 January; Trump's comments suggest the meeting may have been postponed to the following day.
