Russian missiles and drones hit Kyiv, killing one, critically injuring several

Russian forces conducted a combined drone and ballistic missile attack on the city of Kyiv on the night of 23-24 January. Hits have been recorded in three districts of the capital. At least one person has been killed and several critically injured.

Details: City authorities urged residents not to ignore air-raid warning signals, to go to shelters immediately and remain there until the all-clear is given.

Update: At 01:30, Ukraine's Air Force reported that the Russians had launched ballistic missiles towards Kyiv.

Shortly afterwards, a series of powerful explosions was heard in the city.

As of 02:00, strikes were reported on non-residential buildings in the Desnianskyi and Holosiivskyi districts.

A six-storey office building was hit in the Solomianskyi district.

A fuel tanker caught fire in a car park in the Dniprovskyi district after debris fell.

By 02:40, medics had hospitalised two people in a critical condition in the Holosiivskyi district.

"A Russian strike damaged a private medical facility in the Darnytskyi district. Windows have been shattered and one person injured," Tkachenko reported.

He added that as of 03:00 one person had been killed and four injured.

  • Russian forces continue to use a tactic of nighttime terror of Ukrainian cities, launching attack drones from multiple directions.
  • Earlier the same night, a series of powerful explosions was also reported in Kharkiv. Mayor Ihor Terekhov said at least three Russian drones had struck residential buildings in the city.
