Details: The talks are part of a trilateral process aimed at ending the almost four-year war.
The meetings began in the capital of the United Arab Emirates on Friday. Rustem Umierov, the chief negotiator and Secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defence Council, said the discussions were focused on ending the Russo-Ukrainian war and the "further logic" of the negotiation process.
The US delegation includes US President Donald Trump's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, Federal Acquisition Service Commissioner Josh Gruenbaum, US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll, and Alexus Grynkewich, US European Command and NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe.
The Russian delegation includes representatives of military intelligence and the armed forces.
Background: Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated before the talks began that Moscow insists on the withdrawal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the Donbas as a key condition for negotiations on ending the war.
