Russian drone attack on Odesa: 22 injured, up to 3 may be trapped under rubble – photos, video

Twenty-two people have been injured in a Russian drone strike on the city of Odesa on the night of 26-27 January.

Quote from Lysak: "The enemy conducted a large-scale drone attack on Odesa overnight. An infrastructure facility, residential buildings, a kindergarten, a shop and a building site were damaged as a result of the strike. Twenty-two people have been injured, including 14 who sustained minor injuries and received medical treatment at the scene."

Details: Lysak said that all emergency services have been working at the sites of the strikes since nighttime.

The SES noted that search operations for people trapped under the rubble were ongoing in Odesa as of the morning.

"Early reports indicate that up to three people might be trapped under the rubble. Search and rescue operations are ongoing, with canine units involved. The information is being updated," the service said.

The SES added that a two-storey residential building had been damaged in the attack. An apartment on the first floor of a two-storey building was destroyed at another address. Apartments on the first to third floors of a four-storey residential building were also destroyed.

"Fires broke out on the third and fourth floors following a strike on a nine-storey building. A cultural and religious facility was damaged, windows were shattered in neighbouring buildings and cars were damaged," the statement said.

The SES also reported that five children have been injured.

Lysak said that emergency coordination centres had been set up in the city.

"All the necessary assistance is being provided to residents. Municipal services are dealing with the aftermath of the attack. Residents of damaged buildings are being helped to prepare documents to receive compensation under the state eVidnovlennia programme and from the city budget," Lysak said. [The eVidnovlennia programme is a Ukrainian government initiative that provides financial compensation to citizens for housing damaged or destroyed due to the war – ed.]
