Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal has said that over the past week Ukraine has received more than 38 tonnes of energy equipment from five countries.

Quote: "International partners continue to strengthen their support in other areas as well. Over the past week alone, we received more than 38 tonnes of energy equipment from Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, Austria and Slovakia."

Details: The minister also added that generators, transformers, cogeneration units and other equipment are being delivered to Ukraine from the EU, Lithuania, Austria, Poland, Finland, France, Azerbaijan and the Netherlands, as well as from UNDP and UNICEF/WASH.

Quote: "In addition, almost 342 tonnes of aid have already been distributed from the Energy Ministry's hubs to electricity distribution system operators, heat and power generation companies, oil and gas sector companies and local authorities."

Background:

  • In the second half of January, the European Commission announced the delivery of 447 generators to Ukraine worth €3.7 million from the EU's strategic reserves.
  • In addition, Poland is sending hundreds of generators to Ukraine using EU funds.
