Russia attacks Ukraine with 521 aerial assets, air defence downs 38 missiles and 412 drones

Russia carried out a combined strike on Ukraine using missiles of various types from air and ground launch platforms and attack UAVs on the night of 2-3 February. Ukraine's air defence has downed 450 Russian assets out of 521 launched. Impacts from 27 missiles and 31 attack UAVs have been recorded at 27 locations.

Details: From 18:00 on 2 February, the Air Force's air surveillance troops recorded 521 air attack assets:

  • 4 Zirkon/Oniks missiles (launch area – temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea)
  • 32 Iskander-M/S-300 ballistic missiles (launch areas – Russia's Bryansk Oblast and temporarily occupied Crimea)
  • 7 Kh-22/Kh-32 cruise missiles (from airspace over Bryansk Oblast, Russia)
  • 28 Kh-101/Iskander-K cruise missiles (Caspian Sea waters and Kursk Oblast, Russia)
  • 450 Shahed, Herbera and Italmas attack UAVs and other types of loitering munitions from the directions of Russia's Bryansk, Kursk, Orel, Shatalovo, Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk

About 300 of the UAVs were Shahed loitering munitions.

The main targets of the Russian attack were Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Vinnytsia and Odesa oblasts.

Early information indicates that as of 09:30, air defence had shot down or jammed 450 aerial assets – 38 missiles and 412 UAVs of various types:

  • 4 Zirkon/Oniks missiles
  • 11 Iskander-M/S-300 ballistic missiles
  • 3 Kh-22/Kh-32 cruise missiles
  • 20 Kh-101/Iskander-K cruise missiles
  • 412 attack UAVs of various types

Impacts of 27 missiles and 31 attack UAVs were recorded at 27 locations, as well as downed UAV debris falling at 17 locations.

Information on six Russian missiles is being confirmed.
