NATO Secretary General Rutte arrives in Ukraine – video

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has arrived in Kyiv on an unannounced visit.

Details: Zelenskyy published a video from Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square in Kyiv), where he and Rutte honoured the memory of fallen Ukrainian defenders.

Mark Rutte also spoke in Kyiv at the opening of the 15th session of the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament) of Ukraine.

Notably, Rutte arrived in Ukraine after Russia carried out a combined strike on Ukraine overnight.

This happened against the backdrop of US President Donald Trump saying on 29 January that he had received Putin's agreement not to strike Kyiv "and various towns" for a week, without specifying when the period was supposed to start.
