Quote: "The second day of negotiations in Abu Dhabi has begun.
We are working in the same formats as yesterday: trilateral consultations, work in groups, and subsequent synchronisation of positions. The results will follow."
Previously: Commenting on the progress of the talks in Abu Dhabi on 4 February, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke of both good and bad news. According to Rubio, the good news is that the list of unresolved issues that existed between Ukraine and Russia has significantly narrowed.
The Ukrainian delegation is preparing a report to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the outcomes of the first day of negotiations, which concluded on 4 February.
Background:
- Ukraine's delegation in Abu Dhabi includes Secretary Rustem Umierov; Head of Zelenskyy's Office Kyrylo Budanov and his First Deputy Serhii Kyslytsia; Servant of the People parliamentary faction leader Davyd Arakhamiia; Andrii Hnatov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine; and President's Office adviser Oleksandr Bevz.
- According to Umierov, the Ukrainian team in Abu Dhabi has planned a bilateral meeting with the US side, represented by US President's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner. They were to discuss a document on security guarantees and a prosperity plan.
- The trilateral talks in the United Arab Emirates are taking place after Russia carried out a large-scale strike on Ukraine. Following the latest attack, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Tuesday that the work of the Ukrainian negotiating team would be "adjusted".
