Quote: "During January 2026, Ukraine's defence forces carried out a series of successful strikes on hangar-type buildings where pre-launch preparations of medium-range intercontinental ballistic missiles were conducted at the Kapustin Yar test range in Russia's Astrakhan Oblast."

Details: The General Staff reported that the strikes were carried out using long-range strike systems of Ukrainian production, including the FP-5 Flamingo missiles.

"According to available reports, a number of buildings at the test range sustained varying degrees of damage, one of the hangars was significantly damaged, and part of the personnel was evacuated from the site," the General Staff said.

Previously: In October 2025, The Economist reported, without citing specific sources, that Ukraine had begun using its own Flamingo missiles to strike targets on the Russian territory and was producing 2–3 missiles per day, with plans to increase production to 7 missiles per day by the end of October.
