Putin calls UAE leader to thank him for "cooperation between secret services"
Russian leader Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation with UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the evening of 7 February, thanking him for "cooperation between secret services".

Details: The Kremlin reported that Putin "thanked Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for effective cooperation between secret services and for the assistance of the Emirati side in detaining a suspect".
This concerns a person supposedly involved in an attempt on the life of Lieutenant General Vladimir Alexeyev, First Deputy Head of Russia's Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU).
No details were provided about the assistance given by the UAE.
Background:
- Alexeyev, who was the target of an assassination attempt in Moscow on 6 February, was the senior Russian representative at talks in Mariupol in May 2022 during the withdrawal of the Mariupol Garrison from Azovstal.
- On 8 February, it was reported that a suspect in the attempt on Alexeyev had been detained in the UAE.
