Zelenskyy: US offers Ukraine 15-year security guarantees, but we need more than 20

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that the United States is offering Ukraine security guarantees for 15 years, but Kyiv is seeking a commitment of more than 20 years.

Quote: "Today we have a proposal from the US for 15 years [of security guarantees – ed]. We, however, want to have 20 years plus – 30, 50… We will see what the administration and Congress are prepared to agree to."

Details: Zelenskyy said that the Ukrainian delegation met with senators on Saturday and told them that Ukraine is keen to extend the duration of security guarantees so that they are more effective for investors.

Quote: "We have just had a meeting with investors and businesses, and they need guarantees that would last longer than 5-10 years, and so on."
