Terrorist attack in Lviv: number injured rises to 24, police identify slain officer

A police officer has been killed and 24 people have been injured due to explosions in central Lviv on the night of 21-22 February.

Details: Police reported two explosions that occurred as two patrol units arrived at the scene.

The officer killed was identified as 23-year-old Viktoriia Shpylka. She was a native of Volyn Oblast and had moved with her parents to Kherson.

Viktoriia graduated from Lviv State University of Internal Affairs and joined the patrol police, first serving in Kherson Oblast and, since 2023, in Lviv Oblast.

She married last autumn; her husband is also a patrol officer.
