Details: Peskov was responding to a question about whether Moscow intends to provide Tehran with any assistance in addition to the political support it has already expressed.
Background:
- In 2025, Russia and Iran signed a Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which includes enhanced military cooperation that could help Russia in its war against Ukraine.
- As reported by Financial Times, citing leaked Russian documents and sources familiar with the matter, Iran has concluded a secret agreement with Russia worth about €500 million to purchase thousands of modern portable air defence missile systems as part of a large-scale programme to restore its air defence system, which was damaged during last year's war with Israel.
