Two medics from Ukraine's emergency services who were killed in a Russian attack on Kharkiv Oblast on 14 March had previously worked on the Kupiansk front and been targeted by drones there as well. Just a couple of weeks ago, they managed to escape a drone attack by fleeing into a forest.

The crew were initially reported missing, but three hours later, law enforcement found them deep in a forested area, where they had been hiding from Russian FPV drones, the Kharkiv Police reported.

Quote from Zabashta: "These are the heroes who escaped two drones last time and survived. I transferred them to the seemingly safer Burluk front. As you can see, even here, at what seemed quite a distance from the front line, they were still hit."

Background:

  • On 14 March, two medics from an emergency medical team were killed near the village of Chervona Khvylia in Kharkiv Oblast when a Russian FPV drone struck their vehicle. Another ambulance worker was injured.
  • Viktor Zabashta said the medics were in the front of the vehicle at the time of the attack, while the 54-year-old paramedic who survived was in the back.
  • The injured man was hospitalised. His injuries are not life-threatening and he is in a moderate condition.
