Zelenskyy wants US to believe Ukraine, not Putin

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Ukraine wants peace and wants the US to believe it as a partner, rather than manipulative statements by Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

Quote: "Ukraine wants peace much more than Putin does. Yet Putin does everything to make it look as though he wants peace and Ukraine does not. These are signals he sends to America. This is not true; it is manipulation. I very much want the US to trust us, because we are their partners."
Details: The president added that US President Donald Trump also wants peace; therefore, the United States and Ukraine are "allies on this issue and there should be no doubt about it".
Zelenskyy also recalled that Ukraine reacted immediately when help was needed in the Middle East, which is a manifestation of alliance.
"We need to keep looking each day for ways to reach a peace agreement. We need to meet with the Americans. We have a couple more ideas on how we can force this war to end," the president stressed.
Background:
- Earlier, US President Donald Trump had once again blamed Ukraine for the lack of progress in talks on ending the Russo-Ukrainian war, claiming that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy now holds "even less cards".
- Later, Donald Trump had described his conversation with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin as "very good".
- After that, the US president said he was surprised that his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy supposedly did not want to reach a peace deal, while Russian ruler Vladimir Putin was ready for one.
- Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy insisted he needs to meet his US counterpart Donald Trump, saying that some issues remain at a standstill.
