Large-scale drone attack reported in Russia's Leningrad Oblast, fire breaks out at port – photos, videos

Authorities in Russia's Leningrad Oblast have reported a large-scale drone attack, damage to a fuel storage tank and a fire at the port of Primorsk.

Details: Drozdenko claimed that Russian air defence and electronic warfare assets had destroyed 35 drones over Leningrad Oblast since the evening of 22 March.

He noted that the attack had caused a fire at the port of Primorsk.

Quote from Drozdenko: "A fuel storage tank was damaged at the port of Primorsk, causing a fire. Firefighting efforts are ongoing and staff have been evacuated."

For reference: The port of Primorsk in Leningrad Oblast is Russia's largest oil-loading port on the Baltic Sea and the endpoint of the Baltic Pipeline System.

Details: Astra reported earlier that a Russian air defence missile had exploded about one kilometre from the VISKOM military plant in the town of Gatchina in Leningrad Oblast.

VISKOM is a facility specialising in the development and production of close-combat systems and explosive devices as well as special equipment for law enforcement agencies. It is listed in the register of organisations within Russia's military-industrial complex.

Update: Drozdenko said at 04:24 that over 50 drones had been destroyed over Leningrad Oblast.

Background: Pulkovo airport in the Russian city of St Petersburg introduced restrictions on arrivals and departures amid a drone threat, while Russia's National Guard claimed to have downed a Ukrainian drone that targeted Belgorod Oblast Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.
